Long Recognized as Outstanding New Professional
Andrea Long, Business and Information Technology Instructor at Northwest Technology Center’s Alva campus was selected as the Outstanding New Professional for the Business and Information Technology Education (BITE) division of the Oklahoma Association for Career and Technology Educators (OkACTE). Long was notified of the selection in May. She received recognition on stage at the recent OkACTE Summer Conference held at the Cox Center in Oklahoma City.
“We are so proud of Andrea for her hard work and her dedication. She is a great instructor and an outstanding representative of Northwest Technology Center” stated Jane Bowen, NWTC’s Superintendent.
Long has been at Northwest Technology Center since August of 2004. Prior to joining the staff at Northwest Technology Center, she taught for ten years in the Pond Creek-Hunter school district. She is a member of the Business Professionals of America, the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), the National Association of Professional Women, and the National Business Education Association. Last spring, she was honored as the KNID Teacher of the Year and has served as a mentor CareerTech teacher.
Along with this honor through the BITE division of OkACTE, Long will also have the opportunity to attend the ACTE conference held each year in December. The OkACTE Outstanding New Professional Award honors CareerTech Teachers with three to five years of experience in the CareerTech system.
