Program Description
The Web Development and Graphic Design program prepares individuals for success in emerging web and graphic design environments. Students receive training to work for a web design firm, an individual company, or just make extra money by bidding on projects that clients have posted through online marketplaces. This course is unlike a traditional classroom setting because the announcements and assignments are available through a course website. Students either post their work on their own class website or submit their work electronically to their instructor. Web Development and Graphic Design I prepares students for a Web Designer career. Web Development and Graphic Design II prepares students for Designer, Graphic Artist, Desktop Publisher, Multimedia Specialist, Web Producer, or Web Architect careers.
The core skills will cover topics such as:
- HTML
- Macromedia Dreamweaver
- Macromedia Flash
- Macromedia Fireworks
- Adobe Photoshop
- E-Commerce Concepts
After covering the core skills, students may then choose from the following career pathways:
- Web Development and Administration
- Desktop Publishing and Graphic Design

Length of Program
The Web Development and Graphic
Design program is a 1050 hours to
2100 hours program. Post-secondary
students may attend the program half-day
or full day. High School students
may attend the entire morning session,
the afternoon session, or any two-hour
block session (including 7th period
until 3:45 pm). One hour block sessions
may be available for certain class
periods.
Eligible Students
This program is open to secondary as well as post-secondary students. High school students may attend the program their sophomore, junior, and senior years. High School students may attend the entire morning session, the afternoon session, or any two-hour block session (including 7th period until 3:45 pm). This program counts as the Technology credit for students fulfilling requirements of the OHLAP scholarship program.
College Credit
Students may earn college credit towards an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology: Web Development Option from Northern Oklahoma College. Students are required to take 18 hours of general education courses from NOC but may earn the remaining 42 hours required for the A.A.S. degree from Northwest Tech.

Students may earn college credit from OSU-Okmulgee while enrolled in this program.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University has a new Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree with a Technical Management major. This program provides students who transfer to Northwestern from a community college with an Associate of Applied Science degree a course of study to complete a bachelor's degree. In addition, it will allow program credit for CareerTech students who have earned industry recognized certification through a national or vender specific examination and/or documented by the American Council of Education (ACE) to be transferred to Northwestern. The degree is also available for students who enroll at Northwestern and pursue a national certification as approved by Northwestern. Certifications
The Web Development and Graphic Design program targets industry recognized certifications from Brainbench, Adobe, Macromedia, and Certified Internet Webmasters (CIW). Students may take Brainbench exams for free (opposed to the regular fee of approximately $50)!
