Mock Interviews | ||||||||
|
A MOCK INTERVIEW is the first step to landing a dream job! What do you look like to the interviewer when you go for that "all important" job interview? No matter how much you prepare for an interview both in what you are going to say and in how you look you never REALLY know what the interviewer sees unless you practice your interview techniques before a video camera. Are you aware of the mannerisms you exhibit when someone asks you a really puzzling question? Do you know what your facial expression is when asked about something you would really rather not talk about? Have you ever seen what you look like when you are describing yourself to someone on whom you want to make a really good impression? Do you know that you scratch your nose or swivel in your chair when you are really nervous? Are your hand gestures appropriate while telling about an event that has taken place in your work history? Most of us would have to answer these questions by assuming what we think we do or what others have told us about how we appear to them. Most of us dont really KNOW the answers to those questions. You can know, however, by going through a mock interview. A mock interview is merely a "dress rehearsal" of a job interview that is video taped so you can review it later. This gives you an opportunity to practice with an experienced interviewer how you would answer typical interview questions. It also allows you to correct any annoying mannerisms and to hear what you sound like to an interviewer before you actually go to present yourself in a "real" job interview. It is an activity that may make you a little nervous while preparing for and going through it, but it will be well worth it when you make a terrific impression on the interviewer and land that job you really want!
* Stop by the Career Center at 1801 11th Street in Alva, Oklahoma, to make your appointment for a mock interview. Or call the Center at (580) 327-0375.
**You
should come to the "mock" interview prepared just as you would
to a "real" interview dressed and groomed professionally,
with a copy of your resume in hand. |
