Outstanding Business Students Attend BPA National Leadership Conference
Top students from Northwest Technology Center Fairview and Alva campuses attended the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2009 National Leadership Conference in Dallas, TX, June 18-21, 2009. Local BPA chapter members, Susan Tow (Fairview Campus), Laci Schultz and Erica Roberts (Alva Campus) joined over 5,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national level business skills competitions, general sessions, and national elections. They were accompanied by BPA local advisors, Lisa Fuller, Fairview Campus and Andrea Long, Alva Campus.

Erica Roberts tested in Fundamental Accounting and Fundamental Word Processing Skills. Laci Schultz placed in the top ten in Medical Office Procedures.

Area Students Complete Career Academy

Eight area students completed the Northwest Career Academy recently held at Northwest Technology Center. The academy focused on teaching these eighth graders about the entrepreunrial opportunities available in Northwest Oklahoma. The students were housed at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Pictured are (back row l to r): Tracy Owen, Rachel Hopkins and Courtney Mapes, (front row l to r) Cade French, Joshua Boehs, Jacob Beall, Kory Dietz and Hayden Clem. Each student will receive a scholarship upon their completion of the continuing education sessions for the program and their graduation from high school. Scholarship sponsors include: Alva State Bank, The Central National Bank of Alva, Community Bank, Freedom State Bank, First State Bank of Waynoka, Alfalfa County Bank, Fairview Savings and Loan, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Farmers Exchange Bank, ORRC and Dale Sides. |
